It's not in the greatest part of the city but on the weekends there are tons of free parking right outside the hotel. The hotel itself is spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated. The staff is friendly and accomodating
Love the place, warm and cozy feeling. There are a wide range of restaurants availabke within short walking distance from the hotel. Location of the hotel is also good, away from the busy street but yet not too far from everywhere. Friendly staffs and free hot apple cider for hotel guests. The rooms are kept clean and perfectly made all the time. A small mini snack bar at the reception area selling the necessities.
Overall, the hotel is pretty nice. You can tell it is old, but renovated. The bathroom is tiny. The exercise room has a recumbant bike, an elliptical, and a couple of treadmills. The equipment has modern features for watching TV and connecting with your phone. WiFi speed is fine. There is no free breakfast (at least not at my rate). The neighborhood is a little sketchy at night it seems. Free earplugs are provided in the room. Coffee is free in the room but not downstairs where they sell it. The TV in my room is smaller than other hotels and fairly old. The channels don't come in very well either. The room itself is fine and comparable to other hotels.
The rooms are clean, spacious, and modern. Unfortunately, the hotel apparently had a leak and I couldn't check into a king room as I reserved but they offered breakfast and coffee with a queen room to compensate. The front desk was friendly and stored my luggage
Due to my busy schedule, I didn't get to spend a lot of time in my hotel room. However, for the time I was there, my room was very cozy and I got a great night's sleep. I liked the bed and the excess of electrical outlets that let me charge all of my devices simultaneously. Throughout my stay the front desk staff was welcoming and courteous. The fact that the hotel was located so close to Yale's campus meant I could get to and from Yale with ease. And, Union Station was only about 10 minutes by cab. Overall, it was a short, but good stay at Courtyard by Marriott New Haven.
