Was told by a woman at the assessors office on the phone " Well we dont just pull these numbers out of our ass ! " . VERY PROFESSIONAL. So glad I moved out of that pit. Between the crime, shoddy govt and now illegal dirt bikes and quads basically taking over the roads with cops doing little to nothing about it I have no desire to do nothing more than grab lunch or dinner there then get the Hell out of it.
Paid taxes have proof of payment towing people won't accept it as proof of payment. City took my money and processed it. I hate this system the city is always doing something stupid with money and then wonders why we're all mad. I hope this can get fixed quickly because I'm not paying again. I have proof of payment PAID IN FULL because they booted my car for taxes I ALREADY PAID. I have every single transaction and may have to bring my lawyer in this time because I'm at the end of my rope with this. I hope the city also waives the stupid fees for impounding my car.
Place stinks. Some of the staff are extremely rude. One staff person told me I didn't owe any taxes, I told him I did he said I didn't. 6 months later I go to my car in downtown New Haven there's a boot on my car. Had to pay the taxes him I owed plus additional fees. Hate this place!!
I would say they have terrible customer service, but that would require there to actually BE any service given. I have tried 4 times to contact them to resolve an issue and every time I was immediately put on hold by an automated system, and no live person ever came on the line to assist me. Each time I waited several minutes, the longest being 10 minutes on hold. Now I have to find the time to go down there in person to resolve an issue when I don't even live in the area. This is unacceptable.
