I have been going to Chestnut Foods for years and it pains me to see reviews that complain about the price. Folks, you pay for quality and the quality here is always excellent. The staff is always courteous and helpful, the flowers they sell are fresh and lovely all year round, as is the food. I have yet to purchase a piece of dessert that is so thin you can see through it. The slices of pie and cake that are featured in the case are always generous. They have a fabulous assortment of cheeses and wonderful breads and baked goods. If you want something cheaper, go to Stop and Shop and buy something filled with preservatives and additives.
Visited while on a Taste of New Haven tour. Spectacular local shop. Food was delicious. Homemade bread was great. Will definitely be returning.
An aside to "outofbusiness soon" who of course did not have the courage to identify himself, learn to spell before you waste time writing reviews.
Quaint french deli nestled in East Rock. I love to lunch here. They have lots of options from sandwiches, salads, and soups along with a wide array of dessert offering. They also sell fresh baked breads.
Great fresh food.. salads, breads, soups, desserts. Fresh flowers on each table. Very cozy and warm ambiance.
